Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - For the hospitality industry in North Rhine-Westphalia, after a slight recovery from the deep spring crash, things went downhill again before the November closings.
According to the latest data from the State Statistical Office for October, industry sales fell by 12.7 percent compared to September.
Compared to October 2019, the drop in sales was a good 40 percent.
The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) NRW expects the loss of sales in 2020 as a whole due to the lockdown to be more than 50 percent compared to the previous year.
The hospitality industry between the Rhine and Weser can look back on the blackest year since the Federal Republic of Germany was founded, the association emphasized.
Three quarters of entrepreneurs see their livelihoods threatened.
The situation is also worsening from day to day for restaurateurs and hoteliers with claims from the November and December aid, which have not yet reached the prospective advance payments.
"We hope that the advance payments will be paid out by Christmas," said the President of Dehoga NRW, Bernd Niemeier.
