According to the Nigerian language service Hausa of the BBC broadcaster, there could be 50. A group of armed men entered a college in the Nigerian state of Kaduna, in the north-central of the country and took them away.

Some witnesses said that the kidnappers took only girls who attend the school for operators specializing in "Water and Forests".

A spokesman for the Kaduna police said that the police and the army are engaged in the search for the kidnapped.

Other people heard gunshots but hadn't bothered thinking about a drill at the nearby military range.

In the same hours groups of "bandits", reports The National newspaper, broke into some farms to steal livestock.



The fourth kidnapping in 3 months


Last night's is the fourth kidnapping in three months of students in Nigeria In the north-west and center of the country, criminal groups have been operating for ten years, including attacks on villages.

In the state of Kaduna alone, there were 1,972 kidnappings last year.

Just on February 26, 279 girls had been kidnapped from a dormitory in the northern Nigerian state of Zamfara and released five days later.

In early December, 344 girls were kidnapped from a school hostel in Kankara, Katsina State, with a release following negotiations a week later.

Kidnappings were also carried out in the states of Borno, Yobe and Niger State, as the Nigerian website Premium Times recalls.



Objective: the money 


The objective of these kidnappings is the ransom money.

According to SB Morgan, a Nigerian consulting company, the ransoms paid from 2011 to 2020 are around a figure of 15 million euros.
