Lawyers specializing in labor issues have opened the "New Year Support Corona Damage Counseling Village" in a park in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, which accepts consultations for people who are having trouble living due to the effects of the new coronavirus.
The "New Year's Eve Support Corona Damage Counseling Village" was set up in Okubo Park in a corner of Kabukicho, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, and consultations began at 10 am.
Attorneys of the Japan Labor Lawyer and the person in charge of the labor union are consulted, and some of the visitors were dismissed from the construction company due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and they stayed at an internet cafe and got their money. Some men in their 40s said they only had 100 yen.
The executive committee supports procedures for people who have lost their homes to use temporary accommodation facilities prepared by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and also hands out meals and immediate living expenses.
According to a national census, nearly 80,000 people have lost their jobs due to the effects of the new coronavirus.
Attorney Ichiro Natsume of the executive committee said, "I would like to have this support help me to pass the year safely, secure more stable housing and find employment, so please feel free to visit us for consultation."
The counseling village will be open until 5 pm on the 29th, and from 10 am to 5 pm on the 30th and January 2nd at Okubo Park in Shinjuku Ward.
It also has a dedicated meeting room for women and specialized staff for foreign workers.
