Most of them soldiers were killed .. ISIS launches new attacks in Iraq

Iraq announced the killing of five soldiers and three civilians, and the injury of others, in attacks by ISIS in separate areas of the country.

The Security Media Cell in Iraq said - in a statement - that two security personnel were killed and a third wounded in a shooting carried out by militants affiliated with ISIS in the western Anbar province, explaining that the militants targeted a guard post of the Sixteenth Infantry Division on the Al-Siniya Haditha road in the governorate.

In a separate statement, the Security Media Cell confirmed the killing of two members of the Popular Mobilization Forces when an explosive device exploded in Khanaqin district in Diyala province, east of the country.

The same source indicated that a member of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and his wife were killed and his three-year-old daughter was injured in an ISIS attack on a civilian bus in Aliawa district in Khanaqin district in Diyala province.

In the same governorate, ISIS members kidnapped two peasants from their farm in the village of Makhais, and burned their wheat crops and three agricultural tractors, and the bodies of the kidnapped were found nearby, according to the same source.

Earlier in the day, a military source said that artillery strikes targeted an ISIS site in the city of Tuz Khurmatu, east of Salah al-Din Governorate, killing 4 of them.

The source added that unknown gunmen killed the muezzin of the "Al-Sabour" mosque in the same city at dawn.

The frequency of ISIS attacks has increased over the past few months, especially in the area between the governorates of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Diyala, known as the "Triangle of Death."

In 2017, Iraq declared victory over the organization by reclaiming its entire territory, which was estimated at about a third of the country’s area, and invaded it in the summer of 2014, but the organization still maintains sleeper cells in large areas in Iraq, and launches attacks between different periods.

And the Iraqi Ministry of Defense revealed - in a statement last April - that 170 civilians and soldiers, along with 135 members of the organization, had been killed during confrontations and violent acts since last January.
