"In the past two days, I have seen a report from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Party of China to the Party Central Committee, which is the "Report on the Special Rectification of Illegal Issues in the Field of Coal Resources." Inner Mongolia has a very important area of anti-corruption, namely coal Field.” On March 5, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized when participating in the deliberations of the Inner Mongolia delegation, “Being an official of the Communist Party and a public servant of the people, using national resources to engage in bribery, power and money transactions, this account is always To be counted."

Coal has special significance for Inner Mongolia.

The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is home to the world's largest open-pit coal mine. 11 of the 12 league cities in the region have coal mines. It is the province with the largest coal production in the country.

According to statistics, Inner Mongolia's raw coal output in 2019 reached 1.035 billion tons, accounting for 27.6% of the national output.

The period from 2000 to 2010 was the golden decade of rapid development of my country's coal industry and the decade of rapid economic growth in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with an average annual GDP growth rate of 18%.

However, with the rapid development of the coal economy, violations of regulations and laws in the coal resources sector in Inner Mongolia have continued to breed and spread, and coal-related corruption has become the biggest “cancer” in the local political ecology.

A small number of party members and cadres, together with unscrupulous businessmen, use coal resources as "Tang monk meat" and "cash machine", making a big effort to gain power and use power for personal gain.

For example, some leading cadres have taken state-owned coal mines as their own through enterprise restructuring and other methods, and grabbed huge profits; some used power, "I approve coal at the front desk and make money behind my children"; and some used resources as a bargaining chip to take advantage of the opportunity. Engage in clinging, "mounting antennas", consolidating power, seeking promotion, and so on.

Since 2018, of the 5 central management cadres in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region that have been investigated and dealt with by the State Supervision Commission of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, 4 of them are involved in corruption issues closely related to coal.

At the same time, they investigated and dealt with hundreds of serious political and ecological problems such as using coal resources for clinging and antennas.

Among them, the “20-year back investigation” of corruption in the coal resources sector ranked first on the list.

A total of more than 1.4 million cadres in the region have filled in the declarations related to coal, and they have done all they should be reported. From now on, all cadres in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will have a case to be investigated as long as they are involved in coal.
