“One of the most beloved actors in our country, a true Master, a man of a big heart and soul, Vasily Semenovich Lanovoy, has passed away.
This is not just an irreparable loss for the national culture, it is a huge loss for millions of people, ”Mishustin said.
The Prime Minister said that Lanovoy "was infinitely talented, devoted to his profession and his native Vakhtangov theater, where he worked until the end of his days, and films with his participation will always be timeless classics for all time."
"Vasily Semyonovich Lanovoy will remain in our memory not only as a great actor, but as a person with an active civil position, a true patriot of his country," he added.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu expressed their condolences over the death of Lanovoy.
Lanovoy died on 28 January at the age of 88.
