Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Lower Saxony Medical Association has once again strongly promoted the inclusion of medical practices across the board in the corona vaccinations.

"Anyone who seriously wants to fight the virus and get it under control has to vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate and not always create new bureaucratic hurdles," said the President of the Chamber, Martina Wenker, of the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (Tuesday).

About half of the approximately 13,000 resident doctors in the country can start vaccinating overnight.

In addition, there are another 4,500 doctors who have declared their willingness to help in the vaccination centers - for example retired doctors.

The nationwide vaccination start in the general practitioners' practices is only planned for the week of April 19-25, according to the advice of the federal and state health ministers.

A test has been running in Lower Saxony since the beginning of March, but only in a handful of practices.

«We don't need any test runs.

We doctors can, want to and have to vaccinate, ”explained Wenker.

"A quick vaccination is the only chance to defeat the pandemic."

The Chamber President described the provisional vaccination ban for the vaccine from the manufacturer Astrazeneca as a "understandable precautionary measure".

All the data must now be on the table as quickly as possible in order to create transparency, she said.
