Weißenfels (dpa) - The basketball players from Syntainics MBC have stopped their sporting decline.

The Weißenfels won on Wednesday in the cellar duel against the penultimate Jobstairs Gießen with 102: 81 (50:39) and thus celebrated a success after seven defeats in a row.

Coach Silvano Poropat's team achieved their last victory on January 14 at 104: 91 in Braunschweig.

The greatest part of the sixth win of the season, through which the Central Germans again have four points ahead of the relegation zone, had the outstanding Aleksandar Marelja (30 points / 10 rebounds) and Michal Michalak (18).

Scottie James (15) and Jonathan Stark (14) scored the most points for Giessen.

The home side started furiously and after five minutes were 14: 4 ahead.

With a 14-2 run from 50:44 (22nd) to 64:46 (25th), the Weißenfels team made a preliminary decision in this explosive duel at the beginning of the third quarter.

After that, the Central Germans were no longer in serious trouble due to their good throwing rate from beyond the triple line - eleven hits in only 20 attempts.
