The starting price was 999 euros.

He had received the trophy for his overall victory at the Four Hills Tournament 1981/82.

The 59-year-old will donate the money from the auction to social institutions in Auerbach and the surrounding area, among other things.

Deckert, who won silver from the normal hill at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, is today Lord Mayor of Auerbach in Vogtland and honorary president of the VSC Klingenthal.

«I would like to give a little help to people around me who are not doing so well financially due to the Corona crisis and therefore the overall winner's trophy from 1982, the Golden Eagle - which is of course not made of gold and which already has a few signs of use has - auctioned, ”Deckert said in a Facebook video at the start of the auction at the end of December.

The former winter sportsman had already sold his Olympic medal and donated the money to a good cause.
