Three French soldiers were killed in operation in Mali on Monday, when their armored vehicle was hit by an explosive device in the Hombori region, announced the Elysee.

Three French soldiers of the 1st regiment of hunters of Thierville-sur-Meuse lost their lives on Monday, December 28.

Their armored vehicle was hit this morning by an improvised explosive device while participating in an operation in the Hombori region in the center-east near the Burkinabe border.

President Emmanuel Macron expresses in a

release his " 

very great emotion

" after learning of the death of Brigadier-Chief Tanerii Mauri, hunter 1st class Quentin Pauchet and fighter 1st class Dorian Issakhanian.

The Head of State “ 

salutes with the greatest respect the memory of these soldiers, who died for France in the accomplishment of their mission.

He associates himself with the pain of their families, their relatives and their brothers in arms and assures them of the recognition and solidarity of the Nation

 ”, writes the Elysee.

The deaths of these three soldiers bring the number of French soldiers killed in Operation Serval to 47.
