Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - At the traditional commercial aviation school of Lufthansa in Bremen, prospective pilots will in future only receive theoretical instruction.

With the realignment of the training concept announced on Wednesday, the practical part will be relocated to Rostock Airport.

This means that the training flights in Bremen with Cessna Citation training jets will probably end in the middle of the year, as a spokesman said.

Negotiations on a reconciliation of interests and a social plan are to begin for the approximately 100 employees in Bremen.

It is not yet clear how many employees will have to leave.

In Rostock the training flights take place in cheaper propeller machines.

The Group is also abandoning the model of training pilots in a special training course solely for the needs of their main airline Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo.

In the future, all flight trainees should go through the same training steps and apply to the various group airlines after completing them.

This opportunity should also be open to flight students who had to interrupt their training in the Corona crisis.
