Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Lufthansa wants to fly out of the Corona crisis with a renewed tourist offer.

The company announced that the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich will be offering 33 new holiday destinations in the summer.

The focus is on the Canary Islands, Greece and the Caribbean, which, among other destinations, will be served by the new long-haul company "Eurowings Discover" from Frankfurt.

The group assumes that many countries will loosen travel restrictions in the summer when more people have been vaccinated.

“We know that demand rises sharply as soon as travel restrictions fall - and we are ideally equipped for this with our excellent range.

There is a great longing for vacation - the catch-up effect will be correspondingly strong in the summer, ”said board member Harry Hohmeister according to a statement.

The core company Lufthansa is active on European flights from Munich and Frankfurt.

There is also the offer of the established tourism subsidiary Eurowings from other German airports.

The Lufthansa airlines Swiss and Austrian also presented new holiday destinations on Thursday.

In general, the aviation industry assumes that tourist demand will pick up again faster than business travel.
