These marriages of girls under the age of 18 are the consequence of several factors linked to the Covid-19 crisis, mainly school closures, the deterioration of the economic situation, disruptions in public services and the deaths of parents, according to the United Nations agency dedicated to children.

According to Unicef, 650 million girls and women around the world were married before they turned 18.

Half of these marriages took place in five countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, India and Nigeria.

585,000 French people were vaccinated this weekend

Some 585,000 French people have been vaccinated since Friday, assured Prime Minister Jean Castex in a tweet on Sunday evening.

Hospital pressure remains strong, with an increase in hospitalizations and resuscitations.

24,818 patients are currently hospitalized (+193 in 24 hours), while 3,743 people are in intensive care (+54). 

The epidemic circulation also remains high, with 21,825 new cases recorded.

While the government wants to speed up its vaccination campaign, 3,772,579 first doses of vaccine have so far been injected.
