Lewandowski: I didn't have the status of Messi and Ronaldo
Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski does not see him occupying the same position as Portuguese stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine Lionel Messi, despite his superiority over them by winning the award for the best player in the world this year.
Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski told France Football today, Tuesday, "Messi and Ronaldo have been at the same place at the top for a long time. This makes them exceptional players, I don't see myself in the same position."
"But if you look at the statistics for the current year and previous statistics, I think that I am very good with regard to the performance and the goals that I have scored," he added.
Lewandowski, 32, was the top scorer for the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the European Champions League, leading Bayern Munich to win three titles last season, as well as the European Super Cup and the German Super Cup.
Messi, Barcelona's top scorer, and Ronaldo, the Italian top scorer, Juventus, have shared the award for best player in the world between them in the last 11 years, with six awards for the Argentine and five for the Portuguese, before Lewandowski won the award this year.
