Leipzig (dpa / sn) - After the cancellation of the Leipzig Book Fair, there should be a small special edition of the literary festival "Leipzig reads" in the city.

The Leipziger Messe announced on Wednesday that 300 events were planned for the end of May.

How exactly these encounters between the audience and authors will look like depends on the pandemic and the corona rules.

The award ceremonies that would otherwise have taken place at the book fair are to be part of “Leipzig reads extra”.

The prize of the Leipzig Book Fair is to be awarded on May 28 in the Leipzig Congress Hall.

The presentation of the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding is planned for May 26th in the Nikolaikirche.

The detailed program for the reading festival special edition will be published in early May.

After the cancellation last year, the Leipzig Book Fair is also canceled this year due to the corona pandemic.

After a digital edition in 2020, the Frankfurt Book Fair is planning to have face-to-face events again this autumn.
