Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's left-wing co-boss Anja Mayer urges faster vaccinations for clinic and nursing home staff.

“It is good that highly vulnerable groups should be vaccinated first.

But it is bad that the carers, treating and nursing staff only get their turn with a sometimes long delay, ”said Mayer, the trained doctor's assistant, the German Press Agency in Potsdam.

"In addition, doctors in hospitals and general practitioners must be given greater consideration."

She rated it positive that the state government wants to use mobile vaccination teams for residents in nursing homes, for example.

"However, the supply in the area must also be secured by them," demanded Mayer.

In Brandenburg, the vaccinations against the corona virus will start next Sunday. The start is in a nursing home in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, with homes in Havelland and Cottbus coming up in the following days. Then hospitals should follow, especially in the south of the country, which is badly affected by the corona virus. The first vaccination centers in Potsdam and Cottbus will open in January. The Standing Vaccination Commission recommends vaccinating residents of retirement homes, people over 80, medical staff in emergency rooms and who are in close contact with vulnerable groups, as well as staff in outpatient care and in care homes.
