It has been confirmed that Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who is being investigated for illegal propofol medication, has requested a convocation of the Prosecutors' Investigation Review Committee.
The Prosecutors' Investigation Review Committee is a system in which external experts deliberate on the investigation and prosecution process in order to check the abuse of the right to prosecute.
Vice-Chairman Lee has been accused of routinely administering Propofol at plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam, Seoul in 2017.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office has been investigating Vice-Chairman Lee in this case, which was commissioned by the National Rights Commission of Korea to investigate in January last year.
