According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number of people using domestic airlines last year was 46.71 million, 56% less for domestic flights and 4.36 million for international flights, 81% less than the previous year.



Of these, domestic flights fell by around 90% in April and May last year when the first state of emergency was declared, and the rate of decline exceeded 70% in August, the busy season.



After that, the recovery trend continued due to the effect of Go To Travel, and it reached the 40% level in November, but increased to 54% in December when the number of infected people increased again.



On the other hand, international flights have continued to decline by more than 90% since April last year.



In addition, international cargo transportation decreased by 11% from the previous year to 1.28 million tons due to the reduction of passenger flights that carry cargo together.



However, as airlines are focusing on international cargo, which is expected to be in demand from passengers, it has recovered to almost the same level as the previous year since October last year, and in December it was 11% higher than the previous year.



With no clear prospects for the end of the infection, the business environment of airline companies is still severe, and the government will continue to provide support such as reduction of airport charges.
