The former president of the National Front Jean-Marie Le Pen religiously married, according to the Catholic rite, his wife Jany on Saturday at her home in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine), in the presence of a traditionalist priest.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, 92, and Jany Le Pen, 88, had already been civilly married since 1991. None of the three daughters of the co-founder of the FN (now RN) "was aware", told AFP the entourage of the youngest Marine Le Pen, who succeeded her father at the head of the far-right party in 2011.

"Romanticism"

Jean-Marie and Jany Le Pen “exchanged their consents according to the rite of the Roman Catholic Church” in front of the traditionalist priest Philippe Laguérie, “and with the authorization of the Bishop of Nanterre”, Matthieu Rougé, since the marriage n 'was not taking place in a church, said the entourage of Jean-Marie Le Pen, confirming information from

L'Obs

and the far-right site Boulevard Voltaire, which broadcast a video of the ceremony.

Former RN Bruno Gollnisch MEP, member of the party's national office (extended leadership), was present.

The witness of Jean-Marie Le Pen was the elected representative of Val-d'Oise ex-FN, passed to the Party of France, Alexandre Simonnot.

It is a "gesture of romanticism tinged with spirituality", commented to AFP the close advisor of Jean-Marie Le Pen, Lorrain de Saint-Affrique.

Jean-Marie Le Pen had divorced in 1987 from his first wife Pierrette Lalanne, mother of his daughters, who left with the author of a biography of her husband.
