Frenchman Jérémie Beyou is done with his Vendée Globe.

The skipper (Charal) arrived in Les Sables d'Olonne on Saturday morning and finished 13th in the solo round the world race.

One of the favorites for this 2020 edition, the sailor from Landivisiau (Finistère) had to turn around at the start of the race following a succession of damage to his monohull, which had caused him to lose considerable time and all his hopes for success.

“The boat crossed the finish line at 9:15 am and 58 seconds surrounded by many semi-rigid, that is 89 days 18 hours and 55 minutes of race and 80 days 16 hours and 5 minutes since its second departure from Les Sables d 'Olonne.

The gap with the winner Yannick Bestaven is 9 days 15 hours and 11 minutes ”, announced the organization of the race.

Other skippers expected very soon in Les Sables

Initially one of the big favorites of this non-stop solo round-the-world tour, the 44-year-old sailor crashed into an ofni (unidentified floating object) off the Spanish coast three days after departure.

Third in the last edition (2016/2017), the Breton skipper returned to Les Sables d'Olonne for major repairs, as authorized by the regulations within the limit of ten days after departure.

It had resumed sea on November 17, nine days after the departure of its competitors, after having thought it necessary to retire.

Romain Attanasio (PURE-Best Western Hotels & Resort) is expected in the evening (between 5 and 9 p.m.).

The channel is only accessible between 8:50 a.m. and 2:10 p.m., then between 9:50 p.m. and 2:50 a.m.

Behind, are announced Arnaud Boissières (La Mie Câline-Artisans Artipôle, 15th), Alan Roura (La Fabrique, 16th), Kojiro Shiraishi (DMG MORI - Global One, 17th), Stéphane Le Diraison (Time For Oceans, 18th) and a a little further Pip Hare (Medallia, 19th) and Didac Costa (One Planet One Ocean, 20th).

Forced to retire at the start of January, Isabelle Joschke left the port of Salvador de Bahia in Brazil to join Les Sables d'Olonne alongside Sam Davies, also out of the race.
