The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) held a meeting of the Vaccination Expert Committee today (11th) to discuss the specific targets of the Corona 19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca (AZ).



In a notice on the day, the Agency for Disease Control and Prevention announced that "(Vaccination Specialist Committee meeting) will be held as a closed video conference at 4 pm today," and "we will establish a final vaccination plan based on today's deliberation results."



The meeting will focus on whether or not to get AstraZeneca vaccination for the elderly over the age of 65.



The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety yesterday allowed all adults 18 years of age and older to use the AstraZeneca vaccine, but it added a condition that'the use of those aged 65 or older should be carefully determined' in the precautions for use, controversy regarding vaccination for the elderly. It's happening.



In the case of AstraZeneca vaccine, there is no problem in terms of safety and immune response, but only 660 (7.4%) clinical participants for the elderly to confirm the preventive effect have not obtained statistically significant results.



Based on the results of the discussions on the vaccination committee today, the Korea Disease Service Agency (KCDC) has decided on a plan for vaccination in February and March, including whether vaccination for the elderly, and is expected to announce it on the 16th.



The overall vaccine purchase status, introduction plan for the first quarter, detailed plans for each vaccination target, and future preparations are also disclosed.



The Agency for Disease Control and Prevention said it plans to finalize the list of vaccination targets by the 19th with the goal of starting vaccination on the 26th.
