Munich (dpa / lby) - Consumer prices in Bavaria rose by 1.3 percent in February compared to the previous year.

Food has even become 2.0 percent more expensive, as the State Office for Statistics announced on Monday.

Rents and gas prices rose by 1.3 percent, while heating oil was 1.4 percent cheaper.

Compared to January, consumer prices rose 0.6 percent in February.

"Within a month, heating oil prices have risen significantly (+5.6 percent) and consumers also had to pay more for fuel (+2.5 percent)," said the state office.
