Augsburg (dpa / lby) - A family of four broke into a frozen lake in Augsburg and was rescued by passers-by.

In the middle of the Kuhsee in the Hochzoll district, the 34-year-old father broke through the ice cover, then his wife and 18 and 14-year-old daughters, the police said on Monday.

The family members were not injured thanks to the rapid intervention of the emergency workers.

At the time of the accident on Saturday afternoon, there were about 300 people on the ice, according to police.

Police officers had warned them of the danger with loudspeakers and cleared the ice surface.

Nevertheless, a little later a police patrol found around 100 people on the ice again.
