Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's Transport Minister Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff (Linke) has spoken out in favor of a second rescue package for local public transport companies to compensate for their corona-related losses from ticket sales.
This umbrella should be around 3.5 billion euros nationwide, said Hoff on Thursday following discussions with his colleagues from the federal and state levels.
The states had jointly appealed to the federal government to provide at least half of the money required for this.
According to the information, Thuringia already launched a program to compensate for the direct and indirect consequences of the corona pandemic last year.
At that time, 95.4 million euros were available, including about 41 million euros from the country.
This compensated for losses from ticket sales and reimbursed expenses for compensation payments made by the districts and cities to transport companies.
Hoff also spoke out in favor of continuing to lift the truck driving ban on Sundays and public holidays for vaccine transports.
"In addition, I see an extended lifting of the driving ban on Sundays and public holidays as critical," said the minister.
The rights of employees in the logistics industry should not be sacrificed to the corona pandemic.
