Les Sables-d'Olonne / France (dpa) - After the collision with a fishing boat, solo circumnavigator Boris Herrmann is fighting for fourth place at the Vendée Globe.
The Hamburger was about 40 nautical miles from the destination in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France, but was only able to sail at reduced speed due to the damage to his yacht "Seaexplorer - Yacht Club de Monaco".
The morning was calculated as the arrival time.
The winner was the French Yannick Bestaven with “Maître Coq IV”.
The 39-year-old Herrmann collided with a trawler about 90 nautical miles off Les Sables-d'Olonne on Wednesday evening.
Herrmann was uninjured and his boat was damaged.
At the time he was third and even had a chance of victory at his Vendée Globe premiere thanks to a time credit of six hours.

The French "Apivia" skipper Charlie Dalin was the first to cross the finish line on Wednesday evening.
The 36-year-old finished the race over 28,267.88 nautical miles in 80 days, 6 hours, 15 minutes and 47 seconds.
Still, he didn't win.
Also because of a time credit, Bestaven was declared the winner on Thursday morning.
The Frenchman reached the finish in the night over seven hours after Dalin and came in third behind his compatriot Louis Bureau (“Bureau Vallee 2”).
With a credit of ten hours and 15 minutes, the 48-year-old skipper celebrated his first triumph in the sailing classic.
With that, the French continue their winning streak.
They have been successful in all nine races since 1989/90.
Bestaven and Herrmann had received the credits from the race committee for their participation in the rescue mission for the shipwrecked Kevin Escoffier on the night of November 30th to December 1st.
