Chemnitz (dpa) - The Chemnitz gymnastics trainer Gabriele Frehse wrote an open letter to Brigitte Zypries, ethics officer of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB), about four weeks after the publication of the report on allegations of abuse.

The trainer of the third Olympic Games, Sophie Scheder, who has been suspended for two months, asks Zypries for support in order to gain access to the investigation report.

After an investigation by a Frankfurt law firm, the DTB had found “serious breaches of duty” by Frehse.

Ex-world champion Pauline Schäfer and other gymnasts had accused Frehse of harassing her in training, administering medication without a doctor's prescription and not allowing any objection.

Frehse has denied the allegations several times.

“Unfortunately, I am still unable to comment on the specific allegations of the DTB's investigation report, as the association has been denying me access to the report for weeks.

To this day I do not know what exactly was determined, ”said Frehse in her statement, which was published on the online portal“ gymmedia.de ”, among other things.

Initially, the «Free Press» reported on it.

According to Frehse, it is not a fair trial.

“From my point of view, the DTB violates elementary basic legal principles here.

In every normal criminal proceeding, the accused has the right to inspect the files, but the DTB would instead like to play according to its own rules and keep the files under lock and key, ”wrote Frehse.

Therefore, she has already turned to the Hessian data protection officer.

Frehse asks Zypries "to do what you can to ensure that the DTB adheres to the principles of a fair and flawless process in terms of data protection law and allows me to inspect the investigation report".

Only then would the trainer be able to deal with the allegations made against her in the report and to be able to comment publicly on them.

The DTB had recently already stated that its approach was based "on the protection of the personal rights of those affected, the preservation of the anonymity promised by the investigative commission and also on the protection of the people who have entrusted themselves to the investigative commission".

Frehse was informed of the allegations the evening before the report was published.
