Osnabrück (dpa) - The German Federal Environment Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary today with an online ceremony.

The keynote address will be given by the Vice President of the EU Commission, Frans Timmermans.

Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) sends a greeting on the anniversary, as does Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze (SPD).

In the future, the Federal Foundation intends to increasingly focus on promoting raw material recycling and green start-up companies.

The German Federal Environment Foundation started its work on March 1, 1991 in Osnabrück.

Your foundation capital comes from the privatization proceeds of the federally owned Salzgitter AG.

According to its own statements, the foundation has supported more than 10,200 projects with a funding volume of 1.9 billion euros since the beginning.

The current foundation capital is 2.3 billion euros.
