Haßberge (dpa / lby) - The avian influenza continues to spread in Bavaria.
The H5N8 virus was detected in three swans in Lower Franconia, as the Haßberge district office announced on Monday.
In order to prevent the transmission of the disease, which is also known as bird flu, poultry are compulsory in the entire district from January 26th.
Wild water birds are also not allowed to be fed.
Avian influenza is not considered dangerous for humans.
The animal disease has appeared in Bavaria since November.
The pathogen was first detected in ten mallards shot in the Passau district.
This was also confirmed for two dead swans from the Landsberg am Lech district.
The infectious disease occurs mainly in water birds.
The highest incidence and mortality rates are observed in chickens and turkeys - sometimes up to 100 percent.
Avian influenza is a notifiable animal disease and is therefore controlled by the state.
