Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The interior work on Germany's first museum for electronic music in Frankfurt has been completed, but a specific opening date has still not been set due to the corona.

"The Momem - I'm sure - will cause a sensation worldwide," said Frankfurt's Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) on Tuesday during a tour of the exhibition rooms at the Hauptwache.

The interest in electronic music is huge, and Frankfurt is also the techno capital, which has significantly shaped the scene in neighboring Offenbach with clubs such as the Omen, Dorian Gray and Robert Johnson.

"Of course, none of us thought that it would be a museum one day."

If everything goes well, the Museum Of Modern Electronic Music (Momem) at the Hauptwache should open its doors in early autumn.

"It's nice that the moment has come - unfortunately the pandemic continues to put us under suspicion," explained Feldmann.

Because the museum needs a decent opening, without the current restrictions and distance requirements.
