Flensburg (dpa / lno) - A man has been sentenced to a prison sentence of nine years in 54 cases for illegal trading in cannabis in no small amount.

In addition, almost 1.258 million euros will be collected, as a spokesman for the Flensburg Regional Court said after the verdict was announced on Wednesday.

The verdict is the last in the so-called Flensburg cannabis trial.

The public prosecutor had asked for an 11 year sentence.

The defense had pleaded for the proceedings to be discontinued and for a maximum prison sentence of three years and eleven months.

The trial against the man had been separated from the cannabis trial in December because the accused was ill, so as not to endanger the conclusion of the main hearing.

In January, after more than two years of hearing, the district court sentenced three of the remaining ten defendants to prison terms for illegal drug trafficking in a gang.

Six defendants received suspended sentences.

One man was acquitted.
