Bremerhaven (dpa) - The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven have reached the final of the MagentaSport Cup.
In the semifinals of the preparatory tournament of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) on Thursday, the North Germans surprisingly clearly defeated the Adler Mannheim 6: 2 (2: 1, 4: 0, 0: 1).
In the final on Sunday (3 p.m.) they will face the winner of the game EHC Red Bull Munich against Düsseldorfer EG, which will be played on Friday (7.30 p.m.).
Mitch Wahl (7th minute / 34th) and Ziga Jeglic (10th / 26th) scored twice, Carson McMillan (36th) and Jan Urbas (40th) were also successful for coach Thomas Popiesch's team.
Tommi Huhtala (20th) and Lean Bergmann (47th) scored the goals for the weak eight-time German champions from Mannheim.
The MagentaSport-Cup will be held as a preparatory tournament for the DEL season, which will start on December 17th.
