Last year, the "Budget" invested more than 10 billion yuan (Hong Kong dollars, the same below) on environmental protection, and relevant measures are gradually being implemented.

  In order to promote the universal use of electric vehicles in Hong Kong, last year’s budget allocated 2 billion yuan to subsidize the installation of charging infrastructure in the parking lots of qualified private residential buildings in a pilot scheme.

Since the launch of the plan, more than 120 housing estates have applied for a total of 36,000 parking spaces, which is equivalent to about 10% of the relevant parking spaces in Hong Kong.

  Chen Maobo said that an inter-departmental working group has been established for the trial of electric ferry in Victoria Harbour. Last year’s budget set aside 350 million yuan to fund the construction and operation of new ships and supporting equipment. It is expected that an open tender will be launched for the construction of the ferry this year.

  Chen Maobo pointed out that achieving carbon neutrality also requires the use of innovative technology to promote it.
