Munich (dpa / lby) - In the Bavarian buses, trams, underground and suburban trains as well as in all shops, people today have to wear FFP2 protective masks.
The Bavarian cabinet had decided last week that the usual everyday masks were no longer sufficient due to the corona pandemic and should therefore no longer be worn when shopping and in local transport.
Comparable protective masks with the designations KN95 and N95 are also permitted according to the regulation.
Children up to 14 years of age are exempt from the FFP2 mask requirement.
So that people can get used to the new regulations, there should first be a «goodwill week».
Accordingly, retail customers and local transport users who do not wear an FFP2 mask will face a fine from January 25th.
How high this will be is not yet known.
FFP2 masks - provided they are worn correctly - offer significantly better protection than simple mouth and nose covers.
