Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Anyone who follows the corona appeals of the state government and currently looks after their children at home and therefore cannot go to work should receive wage replacement benefits under the Federal Infection Protection Act.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Minister of Social Affairs Stefanie Drese (SPD) made this clear on Tuesday.

A corresponding regulation is currently being prepared in the state government.

Employers should submit appropriate applications to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs.

There had been irritations about the granting of the wage replacement benefit because the daycare centers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are not generally closed.

Attendance is no longer required in schools, but children up to grade six can come.

However, the state government urgently appeals to parents to keep their children at home whenever possible and not to bring them to daycare or school.

Children up to the age of twelve are considered to be in need of care.

Drese emphasized that the doubling of the child sickness benefit days can also be used without the child being on sick leave.

A certificate from the daycare center is sufficient that the child will not come as a result of the government's Corona appeals.
