A 38-year-old scuba diving instructor and a 32-year-old B were teaching beginner scuba diving to students in the department of social and physical education at a university in Donghae in August 2019.

Among the students in the class, C, a female student, came out of the water while descending and said, "It seems that water is entering the respiratory tract," and "I can't get into it," with an dilated pupil.

However, instructor A, who was in charge of the class, urged the training, saying, "You can enter," and eventually, B died in a drowning accident.

Judge Jeong Seong-hwa, who was solely convicted of criminal manslaughter of the Suwon District Law, sentenced instructor A to a fine of 15 million won and B to 12 million won, respectively.

Judge Jung revealed the reason for the sentence, saying, "The defendants were forced to descend even though they were obligated to stop the practice if there was a safety risk by examining closely whether the victim was in a so-called'panic' state that felt severe fear." .
