Oberstdorf (dpa) - The two cross-country skiers Victoria Carl and Sofie Krehl finished ninth in the team sprint at the home World Cup.
When Swedes Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling won, the two 25-year-olds had nothing to do with the fight for the medals.
Krehl stumbled at the beginning of the race.
Silver was surprisingly secured on Sunday in Oberstdorf by the duo Laurien van der Graaff and Nadine Fähndrich from Switzerland, while Slovenia took bronze.
The German men were eliminated in the semi-finals and were unlucky.
Janosch Brugger, who ran in a duet with Sebastian Eisenlauer, lost a ski.
"It couldn't be more stupid," said the 23-year-old about his mishap.
