Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) has rejected the criticism of too few vaccinations in nursing homes.

"The vaccinations of residents in inpatient care facilities continue to have the highest priority in Brandenburg," said Nonnemacher on Thursday of the German press agency.

"Most inpatient care facilities have already made their vaccination appointments."

However, the vaccinations in the facilities are one of the most expensive.

"You need a lot more time here," said the minister.

In the nursing homes in Brandenburg, only 21 residents received a second vaccination by Wednesday, according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute on Thursday.

A total of almost 5000 people have received second protection so far.

The Federal Association of Private Providers of Social Services in Brandenburg spoke of a "PR show with vaccination centers" that endangers the residents of nursing homes.

The association accused Nonnemacher of withdrawing vaccine from nursing homes for the vaccination centers.
