Munich (dpa / lby) - While northern Germany is facing the greatest snow chaos for years, people in some parts of Bavaria can look forward to spring-like temperatures at the weekend.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), low pressure areas over Western Europe direct very mild air to Bavaria.

Foehn sets in at the Alps, which means temperatures of up to 15 degrees are possible there on Saturday.

According to the prognosis, there will not be much sunshine in the Free State.

The sky is mostly very cloudy.

Only in the Alpine region does the sun keep coming through.

Sunday is said to be rainy in many regions.

In the northern and eastern low mountain ranges sleet or rain with black ice formation is also possible.

The temperatures fluctuate on Sunday between -3 degrees in the Franconian Forest and 8 degrees in Chiemgau.

Experts expect a temperature gradient of around 20 degrees between northern and southern Germany at the weekend.

Because of the expected two-part weather in Germany, meteorologists speak of a “memorable event with a rarity”.
