Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The first vaccination doses for the Corona vaccinations have arrived in Rhineland-Palatinate.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health confirmed this on Saturday.

As in other federal states, 9750 doses were expected.

The vaccinations start this Sunday.

In accordance with the requirements of the federal government, people in Rhineland-Palatinate who have a very high risk of getting seriously ill or dying from the coronavirus are initially vaccinated.

In a first step, this should be done via mobile vaccination teams in inpatient care facilities.

First, it will be the turn of retirement homes and senior facilities in the regions where infection rates on December 16 were above the country's average seven-day incidence.

Residents and employees are vaccinated.

The vaccine was distributed to the federal states across Germany on Saturday.

The federal government has several tens of thousands of Biontech cans delivered to a total of 27 locations.
