Communications Regulation: A New Way to Block Marketing Spam

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in the country launched an initiative to block marketing SPAM messages via mobile phones, in cooperation with the licensees in the country, as part of its efforts to improve the level of services in the telecommunications sector and to limit these spam marketing messages.

The Communications Regulatory Authority clarified that under this initiative, mobile users can send a text message to the number 7726 containing the word Ball, and the licensees will block all marketing text messages that start with AD- that are sent to the consumer.

 The authority noted that this first phase is another among the new changes that the authority is making to curb unwanted marketing messages via mobile phones.

The authority commended the efforts of the licensees in the country to implement this stage of the initiative.
