To respond to increasingly eco-responsible travelers, SNCF has set up a new ticket comparator including CO2, travel time and, a new criterion, "useful time".
The idea for the company, very affected by the health crisis, is to convince its customers.
How much does our mode of transport "cost" from an environmental point of view?
More and more travelers are wondering about it when traveling by plane, train, car or bus.
So to highlight the ecological advantages of the train, the SNCF launched, Thursday evening, a mobility comparator on its site.

The eco-comparator is based on several criteria including CO2 emissions, with data from the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe), and the duration of the trip.
It allows you to know, for example, that for a Nantes-Paris journey by TGV, it will take 2h10 and with an emission of 800 grams of CO2.
Right next to it, there is a comparison with a car trip.
It would last 3 hours and 30 minutes and would reject 75 kg of CO2, or four years of average use of an electric oven by a French household.
Plane, carpooling and coaches are also displayed.
The price is not displayed in the comparator
The service is available for the sixty journeys most requested by the French, which represent 26 million tickets sold in one year.
However, one essential criterion has not yet been taken into account: the price.
"It is nevertheless very quickly accessible once the customer has observed the information on CO2 emissions, travel time and useful time", assures Anne Pruvot, general manager of e-travelers SNCF.

SNCF even deployed a whole new criterion.
It is the notion of "useful time", ie the time that the traveler has on board to work, read or watch a series.
An additional argument for the train, which the SNCF puts forward when the company still lost 60% of its TGV and Intercités passengers in February.
