CHAN 2020: facing Congo-Brazaville, the DRC is off to a good start

The DRC won this Sunday, January 17 its first match of the edition of CHAN 2020 against Congo-Brazaville.

From the second day of competition, the Covid-19 invited itself to CHAN 2020 a few hours before the highly anticipated derby between the DRC and Congo.
As a result, at kick-off, the DRC had to do without five players, including its cadre Issama Mpeko from TP Mazembe.
On the Congo side, two players also had the unpleasant surprise of being tested positive.
On the field side, in a fairly disputed meeting, the first attempt of the DRC is signed Fiston Kalala, but his ball passes next to the cages (12th).
With sterile domination, the DRC, which is in its fifth appearance, cannot find the loophole in the first period, while Obassi for Congo misses an opportunity in the DRC's box in the 41st minute.

Another good start at CHAN
The DRC lost too many balls and their passes remained too imprecise during the first forty-five minutes.
The Leopards were far from endangering Congo-Brazzaville which could also have benefited from a strike unfortunately too crushed by Captain Bissiki to open the scoring (42nd).
Victorious twice in the African Nations Championship (2009 and 2016), the DRC necessarily has ambitions with Florent Ibenge at its head.

In the 46th minute, Chico Ushindi took advantage of a muddle in the defense of the Red Devils.
In the 49th minute, the Tout-Puissant Mazembe player attempted a double, but his shot largely missed the goal of the Red Devils.
Before this victory against Congo, in its four previous appearances, the DRC had won three times in its first match.
It was in 2009 against Libya, in 2014 against Mauritania and in 2016 against Ethiopia.
The Leopards have so far only lost one defeat against Cameroon in the 2011 edition (0-2).
