(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Carrie Lam: Hong Kong's New Coronary Vaccination Program is voluntary and free and will not provide monetary encouragement

China News Service, Hong Kong, January 12 (Reporter Zhang Xiaoxi) The Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam said on the 12th that Hong Kong will launch a new crown vaccination plan and hope to get out of the epidemic as soon as possible.

She revealed that all citizens of Hong Kong will receive free new crown vaccination, and vaccination is voluntary, and the SAR government will not provide monetary encouragement.

On the same day, Carrie Lam met with the media before attending the executive meeting. When asked how the SAR government encourages more citizens to get the new crown vaccine, she responded.

She continued that the SAR government will ensure an adequate supply of vaccines so that citizens can get vaccinated on time and smoothly.

At the same time, the SAR government has also established a legal framework for vaccination. The New Crown Vaccine Advisory Committee will hold a meeting this week to observe vaccine-related data and make recommendations to the Secretary for Food and Health.

Carrie Lam predicts that one of the new crown vaccines will arrive in Hong Kong as soon as this month, and the other two will arrive in Hong Kong in the first quarter and the second half of this year.

She also reiterated that when the vaccine arrives in Hong Kong, she will be vaccinated as soon as possible.

In addition, Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor pointed out that although Hong Kong's new crown pneumonia epidemic has shown signs of slow decline in the past week, there are still repetitions. Some confirmed cases have appeared in hospitals, elderly homes and construction sites.

Some confirmed patients involve people who provide daily services to the citizens, such as ship captains, bus drivers, etc., so citizens should not take it lightly.

She emphasized that she understands that the public may have felt tired after fighting the epidemic for a year, but it is still not the time to relax. The global epidemic is still severe, and the situation in overseas such as the United Kingdom is even more serious; Hong Kong will continue to adhere to The “non-proliferation” policy hopes that some Hong Kong people who have been stranded elsewhere due to the policy will understand, and once again call on Hong Kong citizens to strictly observe social distancing, reduce gatherings, and spend the Chinese New Year in a calm environment.
