Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has died aged 91, his agent announced on Friday.

He was notably known for his role in "The Melody of Happiness" and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for "Beginners" in 2012.

, has died at the age of 91, his agent announced Friday, as quoted by the American media.

“Chris was an amazing man who loved and deeply respected his job,” said Lou Pitt, his friend and agent for decades.

Christopher Plummer had a 75-year career but had to wait until the ripe old age of 82 to win his first Oscar, in 2012, for a supporting role alongside Ewan McGregor and Frenchwoman Mélanie Laurent in "Beginners".
