Rostock (dpa / mv) - A 20-year-old driver in Rostock caught and seriously injured a 16-year-old pedestrian who stepped onto the street in front of a bus waiting with the hazard warning lights switched on.

As the police announced on Wednesday, the bus stopped on Tuesday in the Reutershagen district.

Several passengers got off with the 16-year-old.

When he stepped into the street in front of the bus, he was hit by the car.

The motorist is now being investigated for negligent bodily harm.

The police appealed to everyone involved to exercise particular caution in such situations.

As soon as a bus stops at a bus stop with the hazard warning lights switched on, vehicles are only allowed to pass it at walking speed.

Pedestrians should also keep an eye on passing traffic.
