Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg wants to temporarily shut down the corona vaccinations in the vaccination centers and hospitals due to the delay in delivery of the vaccine from Biontech and Pfizer.

"We do not know today how many vaccine doses Brandenburg will actually receive in the next few weeks," said Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) on Sunday of the German press agency.

"That's why we have to temporarily reduce the vaccination speed in the hospitals and in the vaccination centers significantly."

She emphasized: "Vaccinations continue in nursing homes."

Everyone who had a first corona vaccination should also get the second.

The minister announced that no new vaccination appointments could temporarily be made on the 116 117 hotline. "Further information will follow on Monday as to whether appointments that have already been made for initial vaccinations in vaccination centers have to be postponed and, if necessary, opening dates of new vaccination centers have to be adjusted." The vaccine manufacturer Biontech and its US partner Pfizer had announced that they would temporarily reduce the number of vaccine doses delivered and later deliver more. Nonnemacher spoke of "massive problems" for vaccination planning.
