Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg is currently not planning any obligation to wear FFP2 masks in local public transport (ÖPNV) and in retail as in Bavaria.

"An FFP-2 mask requirement in public transport was not an issue in the Brandenburg cabinet today," said government spokesman Florian Engels of the German press agency in Potsdam.

"Such a mask requirement is currently not provided."

In Bavaria, the cabinet there had decided on such an obligation on Tuesday.

Mouth and nose protection applies in Brandenburg, as in other federal states, to public buses and trains and in retail, but regardless of a protection category.

Bavaria had a value of around 160 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week on Tuesday, in Brandenburg the value on Tuesday was 286.
