Aue (AP) - VfL Bochum has missed the leap to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The second-placed team of coach Thomas Reis lost 0: 1 (0: 1) at Erzgebirge Aue on Friday evening.

In the second game of the evening, Eintracht Braunschweig celebrated an important 2-0 (0-0) win against Jahn Regensburg and thus improved to the relegation place for the time being.

Aue defender Gaetan Bussmann (29th minute) made a standard for the victory of the Saxons, in which goalkeeper Martin Männel rose to the record with his 419th appearance.

Aue underpinned his reputation as a favorite scare in the Erzgebirgsstadion, even the top teams Fürth, Kiel and HSV missed victories there.

Bochum wanted to top the table with power and pushed Aue into their own half in the early stages.

Gerrit Holtmann (5th) hit the post early, and after a quarter of an hour the game tipped over.

Clemens Fandrich (21st) hit the post, but then Bussmann was completely unmarked after a corner and headed his first second division goal.

In the further course of the game, Aue largely kept the guests away from their own goal and had chances themselves.

But both Florian Krüger (57th) and Ben Zolinski (58th) failed because of VfL keeper Manuel Riemann.

Bochum found their way back into the game in the final phase.

Sylvère Ganvoula (73rd) hit the crossbar with his header, however, and Milos Pantovic's attempt (82nd) was cleared on the line.

In Braunschweig, Jannis Nikolaou (58th) and Nick Proschwitz (65th) scored the two goals for Eintracht within seven minutes and thus probably saved the job of their coach Daniel Meyer for the first time.

The Regensburg team, who had previously been undefeated in five competitive games, missed taking the lead in the first half.

David Otto failed with a header (7th) and an overhead kick (28th) against the strong goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic.

In the 25th minute, Braunschweig defender Nico Klaß steered the ball to his own post.

After the break, Eintracht earned this important success.
