Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - In Freiburg, a process begins today for drug trafficking in a prison.

The public prosecutor's office accuses three 22, 33 and 47-year-old defendants of having traded drugs in the Freiburg prison in mid-2018.

A 36-year-old prison officer is said to have helped them.

She is charged separately, also for corruption (Ref .: 15 KLs 620 Js 33188/19).

According to the prosecution, the two older men are said to have concocted a plan during their detention to generate extra income by trading narcotics in jail.

The youngest defendant was supposed to buy drugs and other things outside the prison and send them to the two prisoners through the prison officer.

In mid-2018, opioids were smuggled into the prison in the form of 151 tablets, later 28 grams of hashish, further tablets, a mobile phone and a battery.

The officer is said to have received 1,000 and 1,500 euros for the first two deliveries.

Other outside orders - tablets, 550 grams of hashish, cell phones and SIM cards - were discovered.

The group was exposed.
