Berlin (dpa) - FC Bayern is only a hair's throw away from a defeat.

On the 11th matchday of the Bundesliga, the German champions did not get beyond a 1-1 (0-1) at 1. FC Union Berlin.

The iron team even got the better chances and could have taken all three points from the Munich team.

Grischa Prömel brought the committed hosts into the lead early (4th minute).

Bayern's top scorer Robert Lewandowski equalized (67th).

"We made life difficult for ourselves," said Bayern professional Thomas Müller with a view to the 0: 1.

"Of course, that feels too little for our own needs."

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was annoyed about the 17th goal of the season - for the sixth time in a row, the Munich team did not play to zero.

"As a goalkeeper it is of course always annoying," said Neuer.

Due to the draw, the record champions remain leaders with 24 points ahead of RB Leipzig tied on points.

Bayer Leverkusen could still pass with a win against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.

Union is surprisingly sixth in the table with 17 points.

"I'm really happy with the point," said coach Urs Fischer.

Christopher Trimmel also described the 1: 1 as “fair.

That was definitely a very important step forward, ”he said.

The Swiss fisherman had by no means prescribed a wall tactic for his team, but rather a disciplined defense.

And offensively, the Berliners surprised the Champions League winner right from the start.

After 52 seconds Taiwo Awoniyi appeared alone in front of Neuer, with the national goalkeeper steering the ball around the post with his hand.

Almost three minutes later, after captain Trimmel's corner, midfielder Prömel was more on the ball than Robert Lewandowski and headed into the far corner.

It was the first Bundesliga goal for the 25-year-old, who won the Olympic silver medal in 2016 together with Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka, among others.

"Today Bayern were beatable, it just harmonizes," said Prömel.

For the recklessly operating Bayern, it was the fifth 0-1 deficit in a Bundesliga game in a row and at the same time the fastest since October of the previous year.

"If Bayern takes off their lederhosen," it echoed from the forest in front of the stadium, where some supporters supported the Union professionals in the almost empty stadium.

Although the guests took control of the ball, they had a hard time against the Unioner who skillfully narrowed the space.

And after a counterattack initiated by the fast attacking player Sheraldo Becker, Liverpool loan Awoniyi should actually have scored the 2-0.

The young striker had already danced David Alaba as the last Bayern defender, but then shot just wide of the Bayern goal.

The favorite tried to find gaps in the Union defense with long ball passages - for a long time without success.

Lewandowski was also unlucky for a long time in his 200th Bundesliga game.

The Pole, who was nominated for the election of world footballer, put a free kick into the wall from the best position 20 meters in front of the Union housing (45th + 1).

Alaba aimed just wide (33rd).

Union goalkeeper Andreas Luthe only had to intervene once against Gnabry (43) in the first hour.

But Bayern's pressure increased after the break.

The hosts stuck to their line, although the Dane Marcus Ingvartsen, who was called up in the Max Kruse role, had to leave the pitch early injured.

They defended skillfully and continued to use offensive pinpricks.

Awoniyi came just too late (56th).

And a shot by Marius Bülter was blocked at the last second (62nd).

This is the only way to keep Bayern in the game.

After Luthe had reacted very well against Thomas Müller (66th), Lewandowski scored his 13th goal of the season after a good preparatory work by Kingsley Coman.

The Munich team, who had to do without defense chief Niklas Süle (knee injury) in Berlin, are now pressing for the decision with substitute Leroy Sané.

But the team of coach Hansi Flick lacked the final determination, Luthe scratched a Sané header off the line in the final phase (89th).
